Caramelized Onion Dip Recipe
Caramelized Onion Dip
Ingredients
- 2 teaspoons olive oil
- 4 cups onion, chopped (4 cups is about 2 large onions)
- 3/4 teaspoon fresh thyme or ½ teaspoon dried thyme
- ¼ teaspoon salt
- ¾ cup light sour cream not fat free
- 1/3 cup Parmigiano-Reggiano cheese, grated about 1 ½ ounces
- 3 ounces 1/3-less-fat cream cheese
- ¼ teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
- Dash of cayenne pepper
- ¼ teaspoon soy sauce
Instructions
- Heat oil in a large nonstick skillet over medium-high heat, swirling to coat pan. Add chopped onion to pan and sauté 10 minutes or until golden brown. Reduce heat to low, and add thyme and salt to pan; cook 20 minutes or until onions are deep golden brown, stirring occasionally.
- Remove onion mixture from heat. Add the remaining ingredients, stirring until blended and cheese melts.
