At this time of year everyone and their brother is baking and making treats for cookie exchanges, holiday trays, and potlucks. I thought I’d gather up some of my Healthy Sweet Treats so that you can include these in your plans. You know, so you don’t have to feel so bad after the holidays because of all the sugary stuff you might have eaten.
Many of these Healthy Sweet Treats are vegan, gluten-free, require no baking, and/or light in calories. They’re perfect for busy days because most of them are really quick and easy as well. And, best of all, these are all delicious!
These Coconut Bars are really easy to make, and super tasty little bite sized treats. These are vegan, filled with healthy coconut, Paleo-friendly, and no-bake. I love them because of their flavor. They are defiantly a coconut treat! They’re deceptive too; they taste like they’re filled with naughtiness, but in reality, they’re filled with nice!
If you’ve never had Meringue Cookies, you’re in for a really special treat! The outside of these Meringue Cookies gets crisp, while the center is soft and chewy. These Chocolate Cherry Meringue Cookies are like biting into one of the crispy-ist yet chewy-ist fudgy-ist chocolaty-ist cookie ever! Meringues are made from whipped egg whites, and are low in calories, and gluten-free.
Chocolate Coconut Bites are a healthy nutty coconut crust, topped with a soft (almost custardy) coconut layer, and all capped by a chocolate ganache layer. Vegan, gluten-free, grain-free, paleo-friendly, healthy fats from whole foods like nuts and coconut, and n0-bake. And best of all, Super tasty!
I made these Chocolate Covered Coconut Bites based on my Coconut Bars recipe. These treats are vegan, Paleo-friendly, gluten-free, refined sugar-free, and no-bake. I made these little stars into frozen bites. But, they work great in the freezer or the fridge.
These Peppermint Patties have only 3 ingredients, no baking, quick to make, no-bake, gluten-free! But best of all, super delicious! And no high fructose corn syrup, no weird unpronounceable ingredients.
Double Layer Carob Fudge Bites. OMG, these were good! These were rich and delightful without being too sweet or too heavy. I made them with ground carob because my mom can’t have chocolate (it gives her migraines), but they could be made with cocoa instead of carob. These are vegan, gluten-free, grain-free, paleo, no processed sugar, healthy fats from whole foods like nuts and coconut, and no-bake. Super tasty!
Ok, maybe not a cookie, but make these Chocolate “Mousse”Cups in little individual ramekins that you give on the cookie tray, and I guarantee that you’ll be the best gift giver ever! These are vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, and Paleo-friendly. And, these little chocolate cups only take about 5 minutes to make. The hardest part is waiting for the to set in the fridge (though I may have eaten them once or twice when they were soft and melty, maybe!).
These Coconut Oat Cookies are probably the most traditional cookies on my list; they’re made with flour and butter. But I included them here because they’re delicious and filled with healthy oats and coconut. And I love that you can just keep the dough in the freezer and bake them up when you’re ready!
Flourless Chocolate Pecan Cookies [and a whole post on Alternative cookies (& other tasty treats) as gifts]
These Flourless Chocolate Pecan Cookies are so good! Like little brownies in a cute cookie form. But I don’t stop there, I have a dozen other ideas on this post for great edible gift ideas! From dairy-free, gluten-free, vegan, to a recipe for Almond Butter Chocolate Chunkers. Hop over to check them all out.
These Dense Rich Gluten-Free Brownies are great. Processed sugar-free. And, I have a vegan substitution if you want to try that. These are great with a little frozen yogurt on top.
These Coconut Carob Brownies are gluten-free, filled with healthy things, and no-bake. It’d be pretty easy to make the vegan by using maple syrup instead of honey. I made the brownie part with carob powder because my mom can’t have chocolate, but feel free to change the carob powder to cocoa powder if you’d like.
These Coconut Gumdrops are vegan, gluten-free, really fun little candies that you can make. They have a great chewy texture and a lightly sweet flavor!
What healthy treats have you made this holiday season? I wish you and yours a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! Now go make some Healthy Sweet Treats to share at your potluck, cookie exchange, or to make Santa happy!
