Grilled Peaches with Cointreau Caramel Sauce – the perfect early fall dessert that takes almost no time at all to whip up, and your friends will be amazed at how delicious it is!
We made these Grilled Peaches with Cointreau Caramel Sauce the other day when some friends came over for dinner and they brought some peaches. Dan decided to make some quick caramel sauce to go along with the peaches. And, let me tell you, this sauce is amazing! Quick and easy to make, only three ingredients, and so delicious! These more sauce than you need for this dessert, so we used the leftovers on vanilla ice cream or cake.
My husband grilled them up, and while he did that we all got to sit around chatting. It was a lovely evening full of friends and good food.
There are two kinds of peaches: free stone and cling. Free stone means that the pit comes out really easily, and these are the peaches you want for this type of grilled dessert. Cling peaches mean that the peach clings, or holds onto the pit, and the pit is really difficult to remove. Avoid these peaches for this dessert if you can.
For the milk in the caramel sauce, I’d recommend using whole milk. I actually used 2% milk for the peaches in the photo and for our dinner that evening. The 2% worked just fine. But, I think the richness of the whole milk would be great in this dessert.
If you aren’t familiar with Cointreau, it’s an orange flavored liquor, and I think it made this dessert extra special. The slight bitterness of the Cointreau paired with the richness of the caramel sauce over the warm summer peach, oh it was just so yummy! - Peaches, cut in half and pits removed
- Caramel Sauce (recipe below)
- Preheat grill to medium-high.
- Place peach, cut side down directly on preheated grill grates. Grill until marks start to appear, about 5-10 minutes. Turn cut peaches over so the cut side is up and any juices can start to collect in the cavity. Continue to grill until peaches are tender, about another 5-10 minutes.
- Pour 1-2 tablespoons caramel sauce over each peach. Top peach with about 1-2 teaspoons cointreau. Serve as is, or top with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream.
- 1 cup packed brown sugar
- ½ cup butter
- ¼ cup milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Place all ingredients in a small sauce pan, and bring to a boil. Allow to boil for 1-2 minutes, and sauce is ready to eat!
