This ice cream is bitter, hardly sweet at all, definitely not for kids, despite all the sugar, because when sugar is cooked to the dark-brown stage, it loses its sweetness. I’m also very happy with the low number of ingredients… sugar, milk, and eggs (that’s it!)… how amazing when things are so simple. I think the Stone IRS works well in this brittle- it has coffee notes and its dark roasty flavor and color compliments the ice cream.

Honey Lemon Marmalade
This honey marmalade, made with the last of the Neighborhood Fruit, is sweet and tart, and the texture is great. It makes quite a bit, so I have lots for sharing.
Cilantro
Last year, I started growing cilantro to put in my salsa and in my guacamole (I suffer from “guacarexia”- the desire to obtain all of one’s calories from avocadoes). At the end on the year, the plant went to seed and, much to my pleasure, replanted itself all over the garden.

I’ve been testing recipes for the cookbook for a while now, and feel pretty happy with the content. I have about 70 recipes ranging from breakfast to soup to main dish and onto desserts.
